Here’s the Deal: FROSTival is all about the Outdoors (and Craft Brews!)

Like everything during COVID-times, our schedule of FROSTival fun is subject to change. Be sure to check out the website for up-to-date information and don’t forget your mask and mittens!

There’s no doubt, FROSTival is synonymous with being outside, taking in the winter and all that it brings with it. Fredericton also has a pretty robust craft brewing industry, with nearly 30 local producers in the Greater Fredericton area ranging from new startups to award-winning breweries. So, what are you waiting for? Get out there and take it in!

Breathe in that Fresh Winter air!

Hit the slopes (and deals!) at Crabbe Mountain! Crabbe is offering special half price nights (every Thursday during #FROSTival) as well as $25 lift ticket deals (every Sunday & Wednesday during FROSTival) that will make your wallet happy! Also at Crabbe, take the “Everest Challenge” (climbing Crabbe Mountain 13 times equals the distance between base camp and Everest) or check out “Speed Week” where race clubs come together for a week of racing, comradery and SPEED!

Or perhaps you are happier on the ice? Grab your partner for the FROSTival Date Skate; choose between Grant Harvey Centre on the South side (January 21 & 28), or Willie O Ree Place on the North Side (January 23, 30 & February 6).  Check out the ice sculptures around town with the Downtown Ice Sculpture Showcase or try your hand at CrokiCurl, a fun sport that combines curling with crokinole! If snowshoeing is your thing, head to Mactaquac Provincial Park to “Snowshoe Under the Stars” (January 22, 29 & Febraury 5). Don a head lamp and follow your guides for a 45 minute walk through the park, then warm up with hot drinks and snacks by the fire.

How about a little Fat Biking? “Tour de Beer” is described as the “Fondo of Fat Bikes” that combines outdoor fun and taprooms! Check out our #FredTapTrail , visit some tasting rooms and the bonus? You have a chance to win an exclusive FROSTival mug!

Brew Bucks

All good things start with “S”!

Ski: If you are a cross country skier and have your own skis, you’ll want to check out the incredible trails at Killarney Lake, Mactaquac Provincial Park and Odell Park.  The trails are part of the Wostawea Ski Club trail network and are groomed. As always, practice trail etiquette out there!  If you’d like to try cross country skiing, before you invest your $$ in a set of skis, why not rent a pair from Radical Edge?  You can also use skis compliments of Mactaquac Provincial Park

Snowshoe: Snowshoeing has always been a winter staple activity for young and old.  Whether you are venturing out in your backyard or one of our trails (see # 1) this is a great way to get some exercise, slow down and take in your surroundings.  If you need snowshoes, grab a pair at Mactaquac Park, rent a pair from Radical Edge or the Fredericton Public Library.

Skate: Nothing says “winter” and “Canadian” than gliding along a just-zambonied sheet of ice. Fredericton has a number of indoor and outdoor skating facilities; for the indoor rinks, be sure to book your free skate online. Check before you go to ensure that the ice is available, and in some cases, you will need to book a spot if it is an indoor facility.

Sleigh Rides: You have to check this one off the list this winter! Dash through the snow on a horse-drawn sleigh ride with Sandwith Sleigh Rides

Sliding – get your adrenaline going with Mactaquac Provincial Park’s sliding hill or the tamer hills at Odell Park.

So be sure to celebrate this season, check out the FROSTival website, and be sure to tell us your fave experience!
