Shake off the deep freeze and reenergize with FROSTival

Midway through Fredericton’s favourite winter celebration, FROSTival (until February 4), we’re going strong. Put the remote control down and head out to some of these great events this weekend!

Culture in the Capital
Celebrate fine dining at one of 11 participating Dine Around Freddy restaurants; a special chef designed menu includes 3 courses for only $31! Continue your evening at the Boyce Farmers Market with Big Wreck in Loving Memory of…20th Anniversary Tour (January 23), warm in the inviting atmosphere of the Playhouse with the Toronto Dance Theatre (January 25) and the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour (January 26 & 27), laugh along with Scott Faulconbridge LIVE Comedy (January 27), and Branch out Productions presents Oliver! (January 25 – 27).  

Big Wreck in Fredericton for FROSTival

Special musical performances this weekend include Music Runs Through It: Garrett Mason (January 25), Roots & Soul Music Promotions presents: Calum Jackson (January 25) and Fusion Night (January 26), and FROSTival’s By the Fire features Colin Fowlie (January 27) in Officers’ Square.

Two special events are being held (January 27) at the Centre communautaire Sainte-Anne; Julie D’Amour-Léger Photography Exhibition: De ma fênetre and M’Michèle: Between Fingers.

Sports of all kinds…indoors and out!
Even with the cancellation of the NB HopSpiel there's lots to see & do this weekend in Officers' Square! Take part in a 5k Frosty Five (January 27), ending at the ice in Officers’ Square.  Come for the run, and stay for the beer garden featuring local craft brews, warm beverages, and chili! Get your tickets to the Outdoor Beer Garden!

Crabbe Mountain kicks off the weekend with Family Night (January 26), Everest Challenge (January 27-28), and special Après Ski. Mactaquac Park hosts Winter Wellderness (January 27) and Yogi’s unite! FrostiBeer Yoga, Round 2 is on tap at Trailway Brewing (January 27) then bundle up and join Jenny Rolls for SnoGa in Pheonix Square in front of City Hall (January 28).

Cheer on the action, indoors this weekend. It’s a roller derby showdown as the Capital City Rollers present the Winter Wonder Slam Invitational (January 27), speed and agility will be tested at the Ultimate Frisbee Championship (January 26  -28), and university sports include men’s basketball and hockey.

See paint come to life at Art Battle (January 27), Create over Cocktails (January 25) and try your skill at UnCorked Creativity Night (January 27), Art for Frosti-Tots (January 26), try out the snowflake making station at the Fredericton Public Library (January 27), Paint a silk scarf (January 27) and Create Sewing Machine drawings (January 27) with edVentures Fredericton, and take part in a family art workshop at the Beaverbrook Art Gallery (January 28).

FROSTival rounds out the weekend with more hands-on learning workshops through edVentures Fredericton and UNB Leisure Learning, markets, family events at the Fredericton Public Library, make your own Picaroons Growler Carrier (January 28), and the Fredericton Regional Family Resource Centre invites you to the Frosty Forest School Adventure (January 27).
